Alejandro

Background

Alejandro was born and raised in the city of Palencia, Castile, and became a soldier at an early age. He eventually found himself in the employ of the Covenant of Plateau. He was eventually assigned to be the shield grog to the apprentice Elena (who would go on to become Vibria Flambonis). At first, he resented being assigned to an apprentice until he got to know her and saw for himself how much she needed his help. While he grew fond of her personally, and respects her as a member of the Order of Hermes, he also knows that Flambeau is a martial house, which takes pride in their prowess with both spells and arms. And he also knows that Vibria isn't as good with the sword as she thinks she is; he's seen her fight, and her prowess is based more on luck than skill. Unfortunately, she's deluded herself into thinking she's good, so he has to protect her from herself, less she gets herself into a situation that's over her head. And that is a task he has always taken seriously, both at Plateau and, later, at Andorra.

When Vibria announced that she would be moving to Andorra Covenant, Alejandro immediately announced that he would be going with her. Unfortunately, his duties at Plateau (filling in for an injured comrade) delayed him for several weeks. Once he arrived, he quickly settled into his position as her body-guard and shield grog, not letting her out on her own until she suddenly announced her resignation in Summer of 1235 (which led him to believe that he needed to keep an eye on her in the laboratory as well, to keep herself from doing an injury). It took hours of persuasion and coercion for him to accept that she would be just as safe in the company of Sigmundo as she would be with him, but he still wasn't happy about staying behind.
