The last apprentice of Val-Negra, the only living filius of the Archmagus Abaddon of Tytalus, keeper of the abyss, greatest necromancer in the history of the Order.
He was long tormented in Abaddon's phantom zone, Taglyn, a covenant of ghosts.
According to Poena, the Tremere Prima, "he is a demigogue, a cult leader, a mafia don, a hedonist, a prevaricator, a bully, a corrupter, a kingpin, a murderer, a thief, a liar, an opportunist, and a silver tongued devil."
Currently active in Barcelona, though he resides in Normandy.
A situation that cannot be helped, one that causes the magi there some concern but they have been able to (barely) manage. Mythic Barcelona has become something of a Hermetic Casablanca. Part of this can be blamed on Erat Caecus of Tytalus, though not much can be proven. Rumor has it that he has more agents on his personal staff in Barcelona than the entirety of that covenant. Still, this is but a fraction of the situation. There are many other magi that conduct operations in Barcelona from afar, operating through agents and co-conspiritors. There are Venditiors, Hermetic scribes, Almogavars with Hermetic Experience, spies, assassins, black market dealers, and anything you want if you have the connections.
In 1220, Octavian of Tremere and Inigo of Flambeau lead an expedition to find the hidden location of Val-Negra. The quest leads them to Barcelona, where they meet Trentus of Flambeau and learn of his battle with Metron and the secret portal at the Silver Rooster. Before entering the portal, Erat Caecus of Tytalus challenges them, and Inigo defeats him in certamen.
Erat Caecus controls &/or is part of a shadowy cult-like crime family known as the Obsidian Ring. They are rumored to be spies, assassins, cultists, racketeers, extortionists, and able to get you anything you need.
