Background
Maria was a young spanish girl who become apprenticed to Rodrigo of Mercere. Sadly, near the end of her aprenticeship, her gift was ripped appart by Infernal Magics while she helped defend the covenant against a demonic attack, leaving her with but a shadow of her former abilities.
Nonetheless, she went on, making herself usefull first as a scribe.
For a time, she threw herself in life's pleasures, having an affair with one magi or another, including the seductive Dimir Taar, but also with companions and grogs, and has numerous children and grandchildren today. However, she never married, prefering to remain a free woman.
She later perfected her skills as a healer and wise woman. Due to her Premonitions ability, she is sometimes consulted by the magi, who take her advices at heart.
While she is old today, she always refused to take a longevity potion, much to the chagrin of Rodrigo, who felt guilty for his inability to restore her gift. She just says that one must live his life, submit to the lord's will, and ask for no more.
